My research focuses on European Union development policy, gender-mainstreaming and the global coffee trade. Adopting a critical stance, my research seeks to understand the tensions and apparent contradictions that arise from seeking to eradicate poverty and empower women through development policy that is underpinned by a market logic based on increased production and productivity.
